Integrated Therapy

I am always happy to answer questions about approach and theoretical frameworks.  I am an integrative counsellor, which means that I have been trained in at least two evidence- based therapies for the specific treatment of trauma.  I integrate these two modalities to provide the best opportunity for healing in the time that a person spends with me.  I am Internal Family Systems Informed and certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and use polyvagal concepts in therapy sessions. Much of my understanding of psychology has been influenced by attachment theory, somatic theories of mental health, the neurobiology of trauma, and I am person-centered in my approach.

As an “IFS informed” therapist, I have completed required trainings through the IFS institute to use this term and I have the required understanding of this modality to use it in psychotherapy. Specifically, I have completed the Online Circle and have also completed a number of other trainings in the area of complex trauma. To learn more about Internal Family Systems, you can read about it here: What is Internal Family Systems? | IFS Institute (ifs-institute.com)

Being certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy means that I have complete required training (I have been trained in Basic, Advanced, and Enhanced), and have passed the requirements as laid out by IS-Art (International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapists) to be certified as a practitioner. I have trained in Brainspotting Phase 1. Brainspotting is a bottom up therapy that uses a person’s visual field to access unprocessed trauma within the body. To learn more about Brainspotting, please click on the link below.

Polyvagal theory is the link between our life experiences and how those experiences shape our nervous systems and is therapeutic knowledge that is integrated into therapy to help heal our nervous systems and increase resiliency. I have completed training in polyvagal theory, using Deb Dana’s approach “The Rhythm of Regulation”. You can learn more about polyvagal theory here:

In addition to the above, I have completed specific training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and clinical support of 2SLBGTQ+ folx.
